2016 Fall Early Arrival

Fall 2016 Residence Hall Opening Dates

For all new students, the residence halls will open at 9:00am on Saturday, August 20, 2016.

For returning students, the residence halls will open at 9:00am on Wednesday, August 24, 2016.

Requesting Approval for Early Arrival*

Residents who wish to move into their residence hall prior to the dates listed above must submit the online Early Arrival Request form no later than Monday, August 1, 2016 at 5:00pm. There will be an Early Arrival charge posted to your AU student account of $50.00 per person per day posted for each day prior to the fall opening dates.

All requests are subject to approval based on individual person and assignment circumstances. Each request will be reviewed and students will be contacted directly regarding request status.

* Students arriving early are not guaranteed to move directly into their fall housing assignment. Students may be assigned to a temporary space prior to moving into their fall assignment, depending upon room assignment and date of arrival. Please take this into consideration when applying for early arrival.

Students Living in AU Summer Housing

Housing & Dining Programs staff will contact all students living in summer housing to make arrangements for the transition from their summer assignment to their academic year assignment. Students in summer housing who are scheduled to stay through Sunday, August 14, and who are transitioning to a fall housing assignment SHOULD NOT complete an Early Arrival Request form.

  • Students are REQUIRED to be available to move to their academic year assignment on Sunday, August 14, 2016 between 10:00am and 5:00pm. Students who are vacating a summer assignment that a transitioning student is moving into for an academic year assignment may be notified that they must move in the morning. Conversely, students moving into an academic year assignment that a summer resident is in may be notified that move-in is not available until the afternoon. This timing will allow for housekeeping services to be performed prior to the academic year move-in.
  • You must pay the daily summer rate for summer housing (or hold a summer staff position) through Sunday, August 14, 2016 in order to transition from summer to fall housing. Summer students will not be subject to the additional nightly charge noted above for the days between Sunday, August 14 and the start of the academic year.
  • Storage will not be available for students unable to move on Sunday, August 14, 2016. Students who are unable to move from their summer assignment to their fall assignment on Sunday, August 14 will be required to move completely out of their summer assignment and then check back into their fall assignment according to the fall move-in dates.
  • All AU students who are living in AU Summer Housing but who will be living off-campus for the fall 2016 semester must check out by 12:00pm on Sunday, August 7.
