Department Overview

Housing and Dining Programs was created several years ago to being together the set of services that fulfill students' "Room and Board" needs. It is our hope that conducting the business of eat living and dining on campus is a smooth process for students and their families. By combining services such as housing and meal plan sign up, the EagleBucks program, ID card management, and others in one department, we try to achieve this goal so that students can focus on their education, through both in and out of the classroom experiences. The Residential Education unit of Housing and Dining Programs works to make the student experience in the residence halls one that is comfortable but also one that helps students learn and grow.

The staff of Housing and Dining Programs are part of the Office of Campus Life which is a set of offices and services which focus upon creating and maintaining a positive learning environment on campus for students. Each of our staff plays a critical role in making sure that the student experience within Housing and Dining is a positive one.

Residential Education Team

The Residential Education Team members at American University are committed to the value that living is learning and learning is living. These dedicated professionals seek to expand the walls of the classroom to include the residential communities on campus in a combined effort to create civil, cultural, and globally aware citizens.

This young, vibrant, and emerging area within Housing & Dining Programs offers many learning opportunities for young professionals to be active in community development with a wide variety of campus collaborators. To be a part of this team is to have a desire to develop meaningful learning opportunities for students, faculty, and staff, a commitment to the holistic development of residents, and requires the energy to supplement the academic discourse that emanates from American University, Washington DC, and the world.

 

Guest & Visitor Services Team

The Guest & Visitor Services Team provides outreach and collaborative service delivery to the American University community, offering the resources and support of Housing & Dining Programs through residence hall desk operations, summer housing and conference management, public relations and marketing efforts, and web and technology ventures.

 

Operations Team: Assignments & Dining Programs

The Assignments & Dining Programs Team oversees the day-to-day business of both the housing and dining components of the department. The assignments and billing staff is responsible for student room assignments, meal plan billing and tracking, and EagleBucks transactions.

 

Operations Team: One Card & Facilities

The One Card & Facilities Team oversees the day-to-day business of both the housing and dining components of the department. The One Card & Facilities staff partners with Facilities Management for all residence hall maintenance and renovations, and is responsible for AU ID card production, EagleBucks merchant services, EagleBucks technology, implementation, and lounge setups in residential spaces for University events.
