Off Campus Housing Resources
In response to the growing number of students moving off-campus, we are placing a greater focus on off-campus housing resources, aimed at facilitating smooth transitions for students moving out of the residence halls. If you find yourself in need of off-campus housing, the numerous ways we can help you with this process include the following:
- Off-Campus Housing Posting Site: The Off Campus Housing Postings page is a great resource that allows you to explore available housing in the metro DC area as well as connect with potential roommates or sublets. Click on the Off-Campus Housing Postings link to access this.
- Off-Campus Housing Workshops: The workshops, usually given during the spring, cover topics such as: off-campus housing options, working with landlords, financial planning, transportation services in DC, and the "ins & outs" of signing a lease. Additional workshops can be provided to groups of 5 or more students. Contact us to learn about our next scheduled workshop and/or click on the "Moving-On, Moving-Off Workshops " link to access an electronic copy of the Powerpoint presentation.
- Individual Consultations: The consultations provide students with an opportunity for more individualized guidance regarding housing options, financial planning, leases, and neighborhood analysis. The off-campus housing coordinator for Housing & Dining Programs is available to meet with you to develop a specific plan to facilitate a smooth transition to off-campus living. Please click on the Individual Consult Request link and fill out the web form to schedule an individual consult. We will continue to develop resources for students living off-campus and will communicate any new programs or opportunities with you directly.
If you have any questions or suggestions regarding the off-campus housing resources available to you, please feel free to contact us at (202) 885-3370 or via email at offcampushousing@american.edu.
Sincerely,
Housing & Dining Programs
