Room Change Information
Please note that the Room Change Process will take place January 28th through February 8th. Applications will not be accepted after that time.
First-year students, as you consider participating in the room change process, it is important to be aware of the following:
- Room swap: As many of you know, we have limited availability in our first-year student housing communities. As a result, your best option is a room swap. In order to complete a room swap, you will need to identify a student of the same class standing (ie. first year, upperclassmen, etc.) with whom you are requesting to swap. In order to complete the application, you will need the following information from the student with whom you wish to swap: AU ID number, current building of residence, and room number.
- Student is wishing to move to a new room within the same building or to a new building: If you are unable to identify a student to swap room assignments, you can fill out the room change application form by identifying your preferred housing locations. Due to the limited availability of housing, it is less likely we will be able to facilitate roommate changes. Please seek out your RA or an in-hall mediator for assistance in roommate mediation or conflict coaching.
Upperclass students, you have several room change options available to you:
- Room swap: Students can participate in a room swap by identifying the student of the same class standing with whom they wish to swap. Only one student in the swap needs to complete the application. The student completing the application will need the following information from the student with whom they wish to swap: AU ID number, current building of residence, and room number.
- Student is wishing to move to a new room within the same building or to a new building: Please note that while this is not always going to be feasible, your RD will try to accommodate your request if roommate mediation is not going to be feasible.
