Room Change Information

SPRING 2014 – OPEN ROOM CHANGE INFORMATION

AS YOU CONSIDER PARTICIPATING IN THE ROOM CHANGE PROCESS, IT IS IMPORTANT TO BE AWARE OF THE FOLLOWING:

- Room Swap: The easiest and best way to participate in a room change is to request a room swap. In order to apply for a room swap, you will need to identify a student of the same class standing (ie. first year, upperclassmen, etc.) with whom you are requesting to swap. In order to complete the application, you will need the following information from the student with whom you wish to swap: AU ID number, current building of residence & room number.

- Student is wishing to move to a new room within the same building or to a new building: If you unable to identify a student to swap room assignments, you can fill out the room change application form by identifying your preferred housing locations. Due to the limited availability of housing, it is less likely we will be able to facilitate a room change. Please seek out your RA or an in-hall mediator for assistance in roommate mediation or conflict coaching.

Please note that the Room Change Process will take place January 27th through February 10th. Applications will not be accepted after that time.

Next Steps

  • Discuss with your current roommate (if applicable) that you plan on moving out of your room.
  • Your Resident Director will contact you to schedule an appointment to discuss your options.
  • If your room change is approved, you will have 48 hours to vacate your current space and move into your new space. During that 48 hour relocation period, students are ultimately responsible for checking out properly with their previous RA, returning their old keys, and checking in with their new RA. Students that fail to fulfill one or all of these tasks will be subject to lock change fees ($20-$150).
