Students Planning To Study Abroad, Graduate or Separate From The University (Including Students Planning To Transfer):

You MUST complete and submit a Housing License Agreement and Meal Plan Release Petition to the Housing & Dining Programs office or email the completed form to housing@american.edu. The preferred deadline is November 1, 2013 at 4:59pm. Failure to submit the petition by the deadline may lead to spring housing charges posting to your student account.

Students Currently Studying Abroad, Graduate or Separate from the  or On a Leave of Absence for the Fall 2013 Semester:

Housing & Dining Programs invites you to apply for Spring 2014 Housing.

Applications are available below. The priority deadline for application submission is November 1, 2013 at 4:59pm (EST). Students who meet this deadline can anticipate their assignment information to be available on their myAU portal by December 15. Students who do not meet the priority application deadline will be placed on a waitlist.

If you have a roommate preference, you will have an opportunity to note that on your application. If your preferred roommate is a current fall resident student expecting a vacancy in their room for spring, we will do our best to assign you to that space, however this is not guaranteed. If your preferred roommate is not a current fall resident , but will be applying for spring housing, it is unlikely you will be assigned to the same room. If fully vacant rooms are available, we do our best to honor these requests.

Students who study abroad in Fall 2013 are guaranteed housing for the Spring 2014 semester provided that all application deadlines are met and you have not had a previous break in university provided housing.

New Students Joining AU in Spring 2014

Incoming students for Spring 2014 are not required to complete an application. New incoming students indicate their housing request during the enrollment process facilitated through the admission office.

Washington Semester Program (WSP) Students Planning to Live On-Campus for the Spring Semester:

WSP students should work with the Washington Semester Program to complete their housing application. Should you have any questions about the process, please email washsem@american.edu. The program administrators will ensure a housing application is created for you.

Abroad @ AU Students Planning to Live On-Campus for the Spring Semester:

Abroad @ AU students applying to the program should work with the Abroad @ AU program office (abroadatau@american.edu). You will be directed to complete a spring 2014 housing application available on this page.

Off-Campus Residents Interested in Returning to On-Campus Housing for Spring 2014:

Students that have previously moved off campus and are interested in returning to campus housing may apply for spring housing. However, please note that spaces will be offered on a space available basis. As a reminder, a spring assignment will not provide eligibility for the 2014-2015 Academic Year Housing Selection process. If you are interested in housing for the 2014-2015 academic year, you will need to complete a waitlist application this spring.

If you have any questions regarding this process, please feel free to contact us at housing@american.edu or (202) 885-3370. Thank you and best wishes for the start of the new semester!
