For Incoming Transfer Students
We guarantee housing to transfers who are admitted with 36 or less credits and who have submitted an enrollment deposit and housing application by July 1. Transfers students with more than 36 credits and those who also deposit after July 1 will be considered on a space available basis, based on the date the housing deposit is submitted.

I am a transfer student. Do I need to fill out the housing application for the Residence system?
All incoming transfer students who wish to live on campus should pay the additional $200 deposit for housing in their enrollment agreement. After your additional $200 housing deposit is processed, a housing application is entered into our database for a manual assignment. If you are a fall transfer student who has paid a deposit by the July 1st deadline, you will be sent a link to the AU Housing Portal to complete your housing preferences. We will utilize these preferences to make your housing assignment. The University makes every effort to fulfill housing preferences, but cannot guarantee them.
When will transfer students find out whether or not they have been assigned to University-provided housing?
Eligible transfer students will be assigned to housing by July 15th. Students can verify their assignment through the myau.american.edu student portal (Under "Life @ AU," then "University Housing Assignment," "Forward to Fall2014") after this date. If there is no assignment posted on that date, please contact email@example.com for more information. Assignment of transfer students with more than 36 credits will continue as space becomes available during the summer, based on deposit date.
