Important Fall Housing Information
for Current and Incoming AU Students
As the Fall term approaches, we are expecting housing to be close to full occupancy due to many students wishing to return to campus for the Fall semester. Because of these factors, we want to ensure approrpriate information is made available. Please make note of the following sections:
| Incoming First-Year Students | |
| Current AU Students | |
| Incoming Transfer Students |
We know that you will have some important decisions to make in the next few months, but we hope you will choose to live with us on campus next Fall at American University! Because of strong interest for housing from our current and returning students, it becomes very important for you to submit your enrollment and housing deposit as soon as possible to secure your place on campus for the Fall. Please note that students with a later date of enrollment deposit payment will likely be in temporary triple rooms through the Fall semester. After that point, we will make every effort to detriple students as quickly as we can and do expect to offer every student in a temporary triple the opportunity to detriple by the start of the Spring term. May 1, 2008 is the deposit deadline, but we hope you will choose AU before then in order to secure your housing on campus for the Fall semester. Please note, assignment to a temporary triple does not guarantee that a student will remain in a temporary triple room for the entire academic year. When a room is offered the chance to detriple, we will work to detriple the room if one or more students in the room want to detriple. Room cost will be prorated at the time of detripling to reflect time assigned to a temporary triple room and a double room for the semester.
The 2008-2009 Room Draw process is now complete and Fall university housing is no longer available for returning students. If you are still interested in university housing, please submit a paper application and we will add you to our Fall housing waitlist. Please not that it is unlikely that we will be able to house students from our waitlist and we will not be able to confirm availability until early August 2008. For additional informaiton, including our application and license agreement, please visit our Post-Room Draw Process website.
For Incoming Transfer Students
As in previous years, we will do our best to house most transfer students who request university housing. However, because of high projections for Fall 2008 housing requests, we cannot guarantee that all transfer students who request campus housing will be assigned for this coming Fall. We will communicate additional information to transfer students who apply for housing as the summer progresses.
