Student Staff Positions

Fall 2007 Desk Coordinator

The Desk Coordinator (DC) is a part-time student staff member of Housing and Dining Programs and a member of the University’s Office of Campus Life. The DC fulfills a vital role in the residence hall system in maintaining the safety and security of the residents and the building as well as communicating effectively with other staff members especially during emergencies.

The DC reports to the Guest and Public Relations Coordinator. The Guest and Public Relations Coordinator is chiefly responsible for the overall management and operation of the front desk. The DC is expected to work closely with other staff members (RDs, ADs, DRs, RAs, Residence Maintenance Crew, etc.) within the building as well as across campus.  The application deadline is March 2, 2007.

 

Compensation:  $8.50 per hour for 10-20 hours per week, depending on the desk.

Thank you for considering a Campus Host position with Housing and Dining Programs! Our summer operations are vital components of Housing and Dining Programs at American University, providing an important service to over 13,000 students, conferences, and interns from across the country annually. It is also an important source of revenue for the University and to Housing and Dining Programs.

The summer at AU is a very busy and active time in the residence halls, featuring daily activity from early-May to mid-August. The staff works extremely hard to provide accommodations and services to conference groups, interns, and AU students who live in summer housing. The success of our summer operations depends on staff members who are committed, dedicated, and available to work full-time to meet the needs of our summer guests and residents. We are equally committed to making the summer employment experience as positive and rewarding as possible for our staff.  The application deadline is Tuesday, March 20, 2007.

Compensation:
Housing in a single room from Saturday, May 12, 2007 to Tuesday, August 14, 2007

Bon Appetit Student Receptionist

The Student Receptionist will provide comprehensive office support to Bon Appetít Food Management Company and the Resident District Manager in the Terrace Dining Room. Student Receptionists will be expected to work a block of time between the hours of 10:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday.

 

Bon Appetit Student Advocate

The Student Advocate will collect and provide student feedback to Bon Appetít Food Management Company and the Resident District Manager for food service venues at American University. Student Receptionists will be expected to work at least one day per week from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, Monday through Sunday.
