Overview & Important Dates

Room selection for the 2016-2017 academic year has now closed. Please contact roomselection@american.edu with any questions.

Housing & Dining Programs invites you to participate in the 2016-2017 Room Selection Process. This process is for students interested in living on campus for the 2016-2017 academic year. Room selection is a three-step process. Students must complete all three steps by their respective deadlines to secure housing for the 2016-2017 academic year.

Important Dates and Timeline

Step 1: Online Housing ApplicationDue Friday, January 29 at 5 p.m. EST

Step 2: Selection of "Group Name"Due Friday, February 19 at 5 p.m. EST

Step 3: Room Selection. Open Wednesday, February 24 - Wednesday, March 2

Information Sessions

Housing & Dining Programs will be hosting five information sessions to provide opportunities for students to learn more about the process and ask questions in person.

For all students:

Wednesday, January 20 at 6:30 p.m. in McDowell Formal Lounge

Wednesday, January 27 at 6:30 p.m. in Letts Formal Lounge

For transfer students only:

Thursday, January 21 at 6:30 p.m. in The Hatch (Leonard Hall)

For sophomores students only (East Campus Information Session):

Wednesday, February 3 at 6:30 p.m. in Nebraska Formal Lounge

Tuesday, February 9 at 6:30 p.m. in Anderson Conference Room

Selection Process Overview

Step 1: Online Housing Application

Opens Monday, January 11, 2016 on your AU Housing Portal.

Application closes Friday, January 29, 2016 at 5 p.m. EST. No exceptions.

Note: All students must complete an application in order to participate in room selection.

Step 2: Selection of "Group Name"

Opens Monday, January 11, 2016 on your AU Housing Portal. This step requires the completion of Step 1: Online Housing Application.

Selection name due Friday, February 19, 2016 at 5 p.m. EST. No exceptions.

Step 3: Room Selection

Tuesday, February 23: Room Selection timeslots emailed

Wednesday, February 24: Living Learning Communities select

Thursday, February 25 and Tuesday, March 1, 2016*: Rising Upperclass groups select

Thursday, February 25 and Wednesday, March 2, 2016*: Rising Sophomore groups select

* Students selecting individually will also select on these dates
