Summer Intern Housing Eligibility

All applicants must be 18 years of age or older by expected check-in date.

Individuals not able to pay online must call our office at the number below to discuss other possible arrangements. Unfortunately, due to heavy volume, we can neither fax applications to you nor accept faxed applications.

American University’s DC Intern Housing Program is available for any student visiting the Washington, DC area for an academic internship, educational program, or scholarly research.

Proof of internship, educational program, or scholarly research may be requested before or at any time during your stay. Failure to provide appropriate documentation may result in loss of housing and removal from the American University campus.

All interns agree to abide by all American University policies.  

AU has a strong commitment to the promotion of civility and the expectation that students and guests will act responsibly. Housing & Dining Programs supports and encourages the development of residential environments that complement these goals. Community standards have been established in the residence halls with a combination of the Student Conduct Code, specifically the Residence Hall Regulations, and the Housing License Agreement. In addition, Housing & Dining Programs collaborates with Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution Services to ensure that residents and guests live in an environment that enables them to achieve personal satisfaction and contribute to their community.
