Discover DC Program: August 19- 21, 2008

The First Year Fundamentals orientation program will be followed by the optional Discover DC program. Discover DC is a two day informal introduction to the diverse neighborhoods of Washingon, DC. This is one of our most popular programs. By participating you will have a chance to get to know a group of your new international and US classmates while also exploring some of the most interesting neighborhoods in your new city. You will see more than the museums and monuments that tourists visit; this program introduces you to the issues that concern some of the many diverse communities that make up Washington DC. The program begins with dinner and a "DC by night" bus tour after First Year Fundamentals ends on Tuesday August 19, and continues with small group neighborhood visits on Wednesday August 20 and Thursday August 21.

Registration is required for the program, and spaces are limited. A number of spaces are held for international students, so please sign up for the wait list if you are interested in participating in the program. The fee covers some meals, program materials, a bus tour, and daily transportation. Register through the New Student Checklist in your my.american.edu account.
