International Graduate Student Orientation
Fall 2014: Saturday, August 16 - Sunday, August 17
Welcome to Orientation!
International Student Orientation covers important immigration, employment, and cross cultural sessions, as well as academic information specifically of interest to all international students beginning at American University. Then on Monday and Tuesday(August 18th-19th) you will join the U.S. freshmen students for the Eagle Summit Orientation. This program will give you the chance to learn important information for your studies, as well as to meet your new U.S. classmates.Please click here to REGISTER for International Graduate Student Orientation.
REQUIRED CHECK- IN at the INTERNATIONAL ARRIVAL CENTER
Saturday, August 16th, 2014
You are required to complete your orientation and immigration check-in on Saturday, August 16th anytime between noon and 6:00pm. Please report to the SIS (School of International Service) any time during the day. Please bring your laptop computer as we will be completing required immigration processes online. If you do not own a laptop computer, please click here.
At the Welcome Center, you will pick up your orientation packet and schedule, name tag, and other important documents. You will also be guided through your immigration check-in on your own laptop. In addition to these requirements, the following (optional) events will be offered:
- Campus Tours
- Lunch with a current American University student
- Get your AU ID
- Set up school WIFI on your laptop
- Shopping trips
- Smithsonian adventures

If you have set up your myau account, you can access information about the Orientation by logging in here: https://blackboard.american.edu and looking for “International Student Orientation” ISSS staff is also available to answer any questions regarding immigration documents, orientation, and other issues.
