PHOTO EXHIBIT
EXHIBIT OPENING – November 11th @ 5pm in SIS Atrium
Photos on display in SIS Atrium through November 18th
for International Education Week
November 14th to 18th 2011

The Exhibit:
The goal is for you to share your culture as you see it. What can better break stereotypes and ignite the travel spark than an insider’s view? We are looking for “Cultural Snapshots” - pictures taken by students, alumni, faculty, and staff, representing a unique aspect of their own culture. Whether you hail from the US or another country, we want to use your photographic talent to display your part of AU’s cultural diversity.

Eligibility:
• The contest is open to ALL AU students, alumni, faculty and staff.
Photos may be created using film or digital formats and may be digitally enhanced. Your entry should be either emailed to islt.photo@gmail.com (minimum 2000 x 1600 pixels) or as an 8 x 10 photograph printed on photopaper (please do not submit any materials electronically), submitted to International Student & Scholar Services, located in 410 Butler Pavilion.
• Only one entry will be allowed per person.
• The photograph should be taken by the person entering it, and should represent an aspect of the photographer’s own culture.
• Submit a brief description of the situation in which the photo was taken or story about the picture, not exceeding 50 words. Photos chosen for the exhibit will be displayed in the SIS Atrium with their descriptions and will remain on display until Nov 18th, 2011.
• During the exhibit opening, photographers will be invited to explain the cultural meaning of their picture and the context in which it was taken.
• Due to space restrictions not every photograph will be showcased. A committee of ISSS staff and members of the International Student Leadership Team (ISLT) will select the photos to be exhibited in SIS. Each photo must be submitted with an entry form and a photo release form allowing the photo to be displayed on campus from Nov 11th, 2011 through Nov 18th, 2011.

Photos will not be returned. Selected photos will be chosen for display in International Student & Scholar Services after the exhibit.

Prizes:
One of the photographers will be awarded a prize by the end of the exhibit. Details to come.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS is TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 1st.
The photo exhibit will open International Education Week on Friday November 11th in the SIS Atrium and will run until November 18th, 2011.

Sponsored by the International Student Leadership Team and International Student and Scholar Services.
