Welcome to the Summer Transition Enrichment Program (STEP)

For seven weeks during the summer, you will have the opportunity to be part of American University's Summer Transition Enrichment Program – STEP. Each year up to 40 first-year applicants are selected for this influential introduction to the AU community. Along with participating in freshmen orientation, you'll take classes and seminars that prepare you for freshmen courses – and can earn you up to four credits toward graduation.

By being involved in STEP, you will be empowered through knowledge and self-discovery, develop academic skills you'll need to succeed, and transition more easily from high school to college.
