Chemical Toxicity: NSP has committed to consider and minimize chemical toxicity in its purchasing of appliances and office supplies.

Office Purchasing and Behaviors: NSP is currently undergoing a process with the campus sustainability group, Eco-Sense, to become an American University Eco-Certified Office.

Paper: NSP has made a transition to purchasing 100% post-consumer recycled paper for its office printing. To reduce the amount of paper used, NSP is eliminating the thousands of informational fliers it previously distributed to freshmen, in favor of a digital CD format. NSP is also making an effort to reduce its purchase of bright and dark colored paper since it cannot be recycled. NSP has committed to purchasing printers that can print on both sides in the future.

Recycling: NSP recycles all paper used in its office. Paper that has only been used on one side is reused for printing or as scrap paper. NSP will also recycle name badge holders used at orientation.

Energy Efficiency: All NSP office equipment, from computers to copiers, are set to energy saving modes. NSP has made a commitment to purchasing Energy Star certified appliances. Computers are not set to have screen savers, are turned off over night, and powerstrips are unplugged from the wall overnight.

Transportation: All NSP Staff either carpool or use mass transportation to and from work.

Clothing: NSP is purchasing 100% organic cotton shirts for its staff.
