Department Success Story
Knowledge is Power
On its surface, a program called Love S.H.A.C.K. might raise some eyebrows. Recruiting peer educators to promote Sexual Health And Contraceptive Knowledge, however, is another matter. The Wellness Center is moving to launch its program providing comprehensive peer-led education on sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), contraceptive methods, and making responsible relationship choices sometime after Spring Break. Previously known as Sex, Milk, and Cookies, Love S.H.A.C.K. has added two important segments, one on abstinence as a moral choice rather than a religious choice, and one exploring the questions inherent in sexual assault, e.g., when is sex consensual, and when does no mean no?
