Student Health Advisory Committee

For those wanting a say on the quality of health care received on campus, the Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) has arrived. SHAC is “committed to helping students maintain good health so they can achieve success in all areas of campus,” their mission states.

SHAC is relatively new and meeting once each month to develop a system of collecting information and taking action where it is needed. Membership includes the director of the Student Health Center (Daniel Bruey), one medical provider, and several students. Currently, there are students representing the Residence Hall Association, Student Government, Women’s Initiative, the Undergraduate Senate, the Graduate Leadership Council, and the Washington College of Law Student Bar Association. An additional four students are selected through an application process.

SHAC has seen a lot of interest, specifically in the undergraduate student body. Bruey is excited to have so many students that are passionate about improving the health care quality on campus and looks forward to putting the final touches on the committee so that change can begin.
