In order to provide information access to members of the AmericanUniversity community in an orderly and timely manner, the UniversityCenter has established the following guidelines and procedures for the hanging and rotation of banners on the UniversityCenter:
Governing Principles Event specific, time-sensitive banners are given display priority over general service or support announcements.
All-University events (such as Homecoming, Family Weekend, Commencement) are top priority for hanging
All banners are required to display the AU host organization or department as part of the banner.
Banner content is expected to comply with all applicable university policies.
The UniversityCenter expects all banners to be designed and hung safely, and reserves the right to remove, relocate, or alter banners to ensure this principle is followed.
Hanging locations: The UniversityCenter has identified two locations as suitable for display: 1) Over the Tunnel roadway, under the Campus Store. 2) On the fencing which encloses the University Center Garage.
Procedures for each location:
1) Over the Tunnel roadway, under the Campus Store.
Only all-university events and date-specific university activities may be promoted in this location.
No more than seven consecutive days is allowed for any banner.
All banners in this location must be professionally-produced (no bedsheets, paper, or cardboard) with grommets for hanging.
Requests for banner space must be made through the UniversityCenter, Mary Graydon 274, x3390.
Physical Plant will hang all banners in this location, as directed by the UniversityCenter. Banners must be delivered to the University Center Office with an FSR completed at least 3 days prior to the requested posting date.
Banners will be removed following the event date and held for 48 hours for pickup by the host organization before being discarded.
Only all-university events may be promoted in this location.
2) On the fencing which encloses the UniversityCenter Garage
Same as above EXCEPT: All-university events, date-specific university activities, and advertisements for campus services and programs may be posted in this location.
Campus services and programs are allowed three weeks at a time. No more than seven consecutive days is allowed for any event banner.
Bedsheet banners may be produced for this location.
