Intercultural Greek Collective (IGC) 

IGC is a collective of organizations comprised of the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) and culturally based organizations. NPHC is a nationally recognized group of social organizations. The collective plans social, service, and academic events as well as serving as the liaison between the chapters and the University.

There are a total of 6 fraternities and sororities in IGC. These organizations are:

  1. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
  2. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
  3. Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
  4. Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
  5. Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/Lambda Pi Chi Sorority
  6. Gamma Rho Lambda Sorority

InterFraternity Council (IFC)


IFC is a chartered organization of the North-American Interfraternity Conference (NIC). This council provides leadership opportunities, valuable resources, and opportunities for growth & development.

There are a total of 15 organizations in InterFraternity Council. These organizations are:

  3. Beta Theta Pi
  4. Delta Chi
  5. Delta Tau Delta
  6. Lambda Chi Alpha
  7. Phi Sigma Kappa

Panhellenic Council

The Panhellenic Council is the self-governing body of the Panhellenic sororities on campus. They coordinate recruitment, provide programming and activities, and work to positively represent and support the sororities on American University's campus.

There are a total of 9 sororities in the Panhellenic Council. The organizations are:

  3. Alpha Epsilon Phi
  4. Chi Omega
  5. Delta Gamma
  6. Phi Mu
