This year, the theme for FSE is “Our Home, Our DC.”  We chose this as our theme because we want FSE to be not only 3 days of valuable community service (like every other year), but also to be an introduction for brand new DC residents to their home for the next four years.  Students usually come to AU knowing about the “Washington” portions of the city- the monuments, the Capitol, and the White House... but we want them to finish the FSE knowing about “the District" their new home.  They'll do this by working together to better the community, becoming aware of the cultural diversity of DC, learning about important issues facing District residents, as well as by learning about the city's history and its geography. 

This year, FSE gives an outlet for incoming freshman to get off on the right foot with the District- by making an impact in their first week at college!
