The Lotus Notes Client
AU uses IBM's Lotus Notes as the e-mail, calendar, and group collaboration software. It is most effectively used via its own Windows or Macintosh client software, but it also can be accessed through a Web browser at mail.american.edu; through an IMAP mail client, such as Mac Mail, Mozilla Thunderbird, or Outlook Express; or through a Web-enabled cellular phone, PDA, or BlackBerry.
The OIT Help Desk staff will be happy to assist you in setting up the client software on your office or home computer. You can also follow the instructions below to configure Lotus Notes.

We strongly urge you to take advantage of the rich features of Lotus Notes; it is the platform for many administrative applications at the university and provides the maximum resources for transmission and storage of large files and attachments. Custom Lotus Notes databases are used by many departments for everything from resource scheduling to project management. To request a custom database, please complete the IT Project Request Form.
