Synchronizing Your BlackBerry, Palm, or PocketPC with Lotus Notes

Three types of personal digital assistants (PDAs) are supported at American University:

  • BlackBerry devices by Research In Motion
  • PalmOS devices like Treos, Tungstens, and Zires
  • PocketPC devices by companies like Dell and HP

Faculty and staff with BlackBerry handhelds can be connected to AU's BlackBerry server for Lotus Notes. The BlackBerry is the best device for seamless integration with your Lotus Notes e-mail, calendar, task list, contacts, and journal. New e-mail messages and contacts arrive to the BlackBerry wirelessly.

PalmOS and PocketPC devices will not synchronize with Lotus Notes out of the box. Additional software must be purchased. The following product will allow your Palm or PocketPC to synchronize with the Lotus Notes e-mail, calendar, task list, contacts, and journal:

IBM/Lotus EasySync Pro

You will need to purchase EasySync before an OIT staff member can configure your Palm or PocketPC for Lotus Notes. Please save the e-mail confirmation and license key you will receive from your purchase. The software can be downloaded from IBM/Lotus, so you will not need to wait for shipping.

For more information or to request the configuration of your handheld data device, please contact IT Help Desk at 202-885-2550, helpdesk@american.edu, or AskAmericanUHelp.
