Arranging for Repair of Your Computer Equipment
OIT provides complete hardware support and repair services for university-owned computers and some brands of printers (such as: HP and Lexmark). We have a team of Dell certified analysts who provide on-site support for university-owned computers from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
University-Owned Computer Equipment
To report a malfunctioning university-owned computer, printer, or peripheral, please contact the IT Help Desk at 202-885-2550, email@example.com, or AskAmericanUHelp. You will need to report the description of the problem, contact person, location, and telephone number. Also, please indicate the make, model, AU tag number, and serial number.
Please note that we do not repair the following types of equipment:
- external drives
- fax machines
- handheld devices
- some printers with separate service contracts
Personally-Owned Computer Equipment
Please note that due to liability concerns and limited staffing resources, OIT does not provide hardware support for personally-owned computers and other equipment:
- Where time permits, we will try to help diagnose the problem.
- We may make a recommendation as to what type of part to purchase, or refer you to the manufacturer of your computer or to one of several local computer repair shops.
