Connecting to the AU VPN

Using Apple iOS or Android



You can now connect to the Juniper VPN by using the JUNOS PULSE mobile app, which is available for both Apple iOS devices and Android devices. Below are instructions for connecting using both.

Using an Apple iOS Device

  1. Open the App Store on your device.
  2. Search for "Junos Pulse". All of the current Junos products will show up.
  3. Install the JUNOS PULSE app. Be sure to install the Pulse client rather than another Junos client.
  4. Once the JUNOS PULSE app is installed, open it and accept the End User License Agreement.
  5. On the main PULSE app screen, click the arrow on the right side of the VPN field:

  6. In the pop-up window, give the connection a name, such as "AU VPN" in the NAME field.
  7. In the URL field, type "vpn.american.edu" (without quotes).
  8. Click the blue SAVE button:

  9. To connect to the VPN, click the CONNECT button on the main app screen below the "AU VPN" connection you just set up.

  10. You will be prompted for your myAU.american.edu USER NAME and PASSWORD. Once you enter the credentials, click SIGN IN.
  11. You should now be connected to the AU VPN. To disconnect, open the JUNOS PULSE app and click the DISCONNECT button.

Using an Android Device

  1. Open the Google Play Store on your device.
  2. Search for "Junos Pulse".
  3. Install the JUNOS PULSE app.
  4. Once the JUNOS PULSE app is installed, open it and accept the End User License Agreement.
  5. Click the CONNECTIONS button.
  6. Click the ADD CONNECTION button:

  7. On the next screen, give the connection a name, such as "AU VPN" in the NAME field.
  8. In the URL field, type "vpn.american.edu" (without quotes).
  9. Click the CREATE CONNECTION button:

  10. Click the back button on your device to exit to the main PULSE app screen.
  11. To connect to the VPN, click the CONNECT button near the bottom of the main app screen.

  12. You will be prompted for your myAU.american.edu USER NAME and PASSWORD. Once you enter the credentials, click SIGN IN.
  13. You should now be connected to the AU VPN. To disconnect, open the JUNOS PULSE app and click the DISCONNECT button.
