Connecting Your Windows Vista Computer to the Internet
Using an Ethernet Cable On Campus
- Click on the START MENU and select CONTROL PANEL.
- Select NETWORK AND INTERNET.
- Select the NETWORK AND SHARING CENTER.
- From the Tasks section on the left, select MANAGE NETWORK CONNECTIONS.
- Right-click the LOCAL AREA CONNECTION icon and select PROPERTIES.
- From the User Access Control window, click CONTINUE.
- Select INTERNET PROTOCOL VERSION 4 (TCP/IPv4), and then click the PROPERTIES button.
- Make sure OBTAIN AN IP ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY and OBTAIN DNS SERVER ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY are selected.
- Click the OK button to close the other open windows.
- Restart the computer.
- Log on to perform the system "health check".
