Meet Our New Director of Systems Engineering Services

On August 11, 2011, Senior Director of Technology Operations Chris Gehring released the following announcement regarding the appointment of the new Director of Systems Engineering Services in the Office of Information Technology:


Please join me in congratulating Michael Grinnell's promotion to Director of Systems Engineering Services. We are excited to bring Michael's technical knowledge and leadership abilities to this role, and look forward to having him assist in maturing the organization. Michael brings a wealth of knowledge around systems deployment and management, with skills in Active Directory, Unix, and virtual infrastructure. Michael will transition from the Information Security team to his new role on September 1.

Michael Grinnell has been with AU for eleven years. During this time, he has helped to implement numerous projects including Cisco Clean Access, PGP encryption, AU's Virtual Private Network, and many others. He is proficient in Linux, OS X, and Windows administration, and dabbles in Perl, Python, and PowerShell scripting. His current interests include: virtualization, enterprise directory services, secure service delivery, and business continuity. Michael is an American University alumnus, holding a Master's degree in Information Technology Management and a Bachelor's degree in International Studies. Michael currently holds the CISSP, GSEC, GCWN, and MCP certifications.
