Secunia Personal Software Inspector (PSI) is a Windows based program keeps your computer secure by patching and updating insecure programs. Patching insecure programs helps safeguard your data and PC against cybercriminals. Secunia PSI is a security scanner which identifies programs that are insecure and need updates. It even automates the updating of many of these programs, making it a lot easier for you to maintain a secure PC.
Click the DOWNLOAD button on the right. You will be prompted to Run or Save the Secunia PSI installation software.
Run the PSIsetup.exe installation software.
Once the installation is complete, click FINISH to close the installation window.
Run a Security Scan with Secunia PSI
Go to START > ALL PROGRAMS and click Secunia PSI to launch the program.
Click on START SCAN in the upper right corner of the window. Secunia will begin scanning your computer.
Once the scan is complete, you will see the results of the scan in a confirmation window. Click CLOSE to close this window.
In the Secunia PSI window, you will now see a list of outdated or insecure programs that are installed on your computer. These programs are showing up because patches or newer versions are available that address bug fixes or other security problems.
There should be links displayed in the SOLUTION column, with possible fixes for your programs. Click these links to download available patches or newer versions of these programs.
Each outdated or insecure program will also have a THREAT RATING next to it. If you click on the THREAT RATING bar, you will be taken to the Secunia PSI web site where you will see additional security information on the affected program.
