The Art of Sound - The Sound of Art
February 24-25, 8:00 p.m.
February 26, 3:00 p.m.

Created by Jerzy Sapieyevski

The concept of this installation and music by Jerzy Sapieyevski is drawn from the interaction of the musicians with the works of art and the audience viewing them. The performance unites classical, jazz and avant-garde styles into one-of-a-kind creations. Multimedia elements and the use of a system for spatial performance further enhance this live concert; a site-specific performance and multidimensional sound sculptures utilize the architecture, acoustics and the spirit of Katzen, so that the entire building becomes a musical instrument, immersing the audience in a surround-sound event.

This Pulitzer Prize-winning tale of life at the turn of the last century is a perfect lens through which to examine life in our new century . By sharing laughter, tears, celebration and mourning with residents of tiny Grover's Corners, New Hampshire , in 1901, we remind ourselves to celebrate contemporary life in all its complexity and mystery. The cast of talented performers makes D.C. our town and a heart warming metaphor for human existence throughout the ages.
