I am pleased to inform you that George Hawkins, general manager of DC Water, has notified us that the water advisory is lifted. Tests showed no evidence of contamination and water is safe to use for drinking and food preparation. For more information, please see www.dcwater.com/news/listings/press_release640.cfm.
There are no special instructions for flushing faucets or water lines. If a line has not been used since the alert was made, flushing for a minute or two would be fine, out of an abundance of caution, to get the water supply moving after a couple of days. However, if a line has been used for other purposes, such as bathing or hand washing, no special measures are required.
Thanks to everyone for your patience during the advisory. I understand the inconvenience and uncertainty presented challenges to all. Special thanks to staff members who assisted with water delivery, special food preparation, and notifications to our community.
