The American University community is invited to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by gathering for a special ceremony from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, in the Kay Spiritual Life Center. The theme of the 2008 tribute is “Remember, Reflect, Renew.”
Featured faculty, staff, and student speakers are
- Reverend Joseph Eldridge, university chaplain
- Caleen Sinnette Jennings, professor, CAS, Department of Performing Arts
- Tiffany Speaks, director, Multicultural Affairs
- Daniel Maree, senior, School of Communication
- Tala Abu Rahmeh, graduate student, CAS, Department of Art
Musical selections will be performed by the AU Gospel Choir, under the direction of Sylstea Sledge.
As we begin a new year, please join me to renew our commitments to the institutional values we share with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.—social justice, ethics, diversity, and service. I hope you will participate in this important annual event.
