 SUBJECT:  Dr. Cyrus Katzen, AU Friend and Benefactor

The university is deeply saddened by the death of Dr. Cyrus Katzen, who passed away on Sunday, July 12. Dr. Katzen was a beloved member of the American University family whose impact will have a lasting effect on our community for generations to come. Cy and his wife, Myrtle, made the generous lead donation for what became the Cyrus and Myrtle Katzen Arts Center.


They have been generous benefactors in other ways as well. The Katzens’ support for higher education in Washington makes the impact of his life felt across the city today.

We extend condolences to Mrs. Katzen and the entire family. Dr. Katzen’s obituary is on the Washington Post Web site.
