Dear New Undergraduate Students:

Congratulations on joining the American University community and welcome to Washington, D.C.

I hope you will enjoy this brief video message welcoming you to campus and showcasing some of the things that make AU special.

During your time here, you will learn about the distinctive AU “spirit”—which emphasizes academics, activism, and global awareness. As an AU student, you will find numerous opportunities and many resources for learning, both in the classroom and in the community at-large. I encourage you to get involved.

Welcome Weeks activities include Opening Convocation on Friday, August 23, to formally kick off the academic year; Celebrate AU on Monday, August 26 to meet other students, faculty, and staff; and AU Night at Nationals Park on Friday, August 30.

I look forward to seeing you around campus at these or other events this semester.

Neil Kerwin
