Examining and Improving Government Regulations

Dr. Cornelius M. Kerwin, Founder & Director

The mission of the Center for the Study of Rulemaking (CSR) is to examine and improve the processes and techniques used by agencies of government to develop regulations. Drawing on the scholarship and experience of the American University faculty, the Center will involve experts from the public and private sectors, as well as the larger academic community, in its efforts to understand and improve our rulemaking processes.

The Center presents a symposium each year. This year's symposium, Collaborative Governance: The Future of Regulation, will focus on policymaking, implementation and enforcement, and legal and institutional change. Attendees will work together to develop recommendations to increase academic, professional, and public awareness and to improve relationships between and among the branches of the federal government. The symposium is jointly organized by American University's Center for the Study of Rulemaking and the University of Missouri-Columbia's Center for Dispute Resolution.

A copy of the symposium brochure is online.

Information on previous events is also online.
