SUBJECT: Events Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

A number of campus-wide events are planned to celebrate the work and memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  This year’s theme is “Be Part of the Dream.”

The events planned pay tribute to Dr. King’s historic achievements and affirm our commitment to promoting social justice, community service, and non-violence:

  • WCL’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Commemorative Program – Tuesday, January 16;
  • Multicultural Affairs Welcome Back Reception and Social – Wednesday, January 17;
  • Film:  HIP-HOP: Beyond Beats and Rhymes – Wednesday, January 17;
  • Table Talk: Race Progress: Truth or Illusion – Thursday, January 18;
  • AU Jazz Ensemble: Reflections of the Movement – Friday, January 19; and
  • Community Service: Washington Center for the Aging – Saturday, January 20.
