A close tie between Bender Library and the Eldridge Labyrinth
Christine Gettings is the Director of International Programs and Partnerships in the School of International Service. In this capacity, she manages the development, implementation, promotion and assessment of the international programs in SIS, such as the study abroad programs, faculty-led programs, and programs with the school's partner institutions around the world.
Previously, she served as the Assistant Director of Global Learning and Leadership in the Center for Community Engagement and Service where she managed the Alternative Break program and other global community based learning experiences.
She has designed and facilitated trainings, seminars, and workshops on leadership, student activism, ethical global volunteering, diversity and inclusion, emergency management, intercultural communication, and the role of reflection in service-learning. She has accompanied students to the Thailand-Burma border to learn more about the Burmese democracy movement and the experiences of refugee populations in Thailand. Additionally, she has traveled to the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland with students to study peacebuilding in divided societies.
In the Fall of 2017, Christine is serving as an AUx1 Instructor and is passionate about welcoming new students to AU and helping them find their purpose in our campus community.
Christine is serving as the Co-Chair Elect of the NASPA International Education Knowledge Community (IEKC). For four years, she was the Region II Representative to the IEKC.
