Co-director journalism program, Washington Semester Program
For 22 years, I was a national correspondent for the Media General News Service, writing for 23 Southern newspapers. I covered the White House, Congress, the Supreme Court and presidential campaigns and conventions.
Leaving Media General at the end of 2007, I toured the United States for the National Press Club, organizing and moderating forums with leading local journalists on the future of journalism and how to protect its core values. A report on my findings can be found here: http://www.press.org/about/journalism-juncture
Before coming to Washington, I was the environment and transportation reporter for the Tampa Tribune in Florida and the police and courts reporter for the Gwinnett Daily News in Georgia.
I was president of the National Press Club in 1994 and wrote its centennial history: "Reliable Sources: 100 Years at the National Press Club." -
