Hye Young Shin

  • Hye Young Shin earned both her BA and MA from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, South Korea’s premier institution for language research and education. A native Korean, she went on to receive her second master’s degree from American University. She has taught both heritage and non-heritage employees of the Sate Department, the Department of Defense, and the United States Department of Agriculture. She has extensive experience teaching various levels of Korean at Johns Hopkins University-SAIS, Northern Virginia Community College, and the Graduate school of USDA. In 2004, she joined American University where she has been teaching Elementary Korean I and II. To complement her classroom instruction, she has developed her own Korean language educational website through the application of Multiple Intelligences Theory. In line with her holistic approach to education, www.ilearnkorean.com serves as a pedagogical tool which she uses to challenge each student to learn through individual strengths.
