John Hyman

Dir. College Writing Program & Writing Center Department of Literature

John Hyman began teaching at American University in 1986. He has won several teaching awards and was recognized for outstanding service to the university community in 2000. He has directed the Writing Center since 1993, and in 2000 became the director of the College Writing Program. In addition to many courses in writing, he has taught courses in American Studies, the Beat Generation, and the history and literature of the Vietnam War. He has presented at many conferences on issues of assessment, student development, student rights, and academic integrity.
