Gopal Krishnan

Professor Department of Accounting and Taxation

Gopal Krishnan is the Chair of the Department of Accounting and Taxation at the Kogod School. Before joining AU, Professor Krishnan held the Perella Chair in Accounting at Lehigh University and the Northern Chapter of the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants Professorship in Public Accounting at George Mason University. He has also taught at The City University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Nanyang Technological University, and University of Manitoba. He is a Chartered Accountant, Certified Public Accountant, and a Certified Management Accountant. He is cited in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers for his teaching excellence. Professor Krishnan’s research addresses issues concerning auditor independence and audit quality, corporate governance and earnings management. He has published more than fifty articles in accounting and finance journals, including publications in Contemporary Accounting Research, The Accounting Review, Review of Accounting Studies, Journal of Banking & Finance, Journal of the American Taxation Association, Auditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory, and Journal of Business Ethics. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of North Texas. He enjoys cycling, chess, tennis, reading, and movies.
