- Professor Chinloy teaches about residential and commercial real estate, with a focus on innovation in real estate and the ways properties are designed and managed. Chinloy’s interests in the real estate business include pricing, contracts, mortgage markets, and the different types of property that are appropriate for residential housing as well as commercial uses such as education and health care. His classes typically involve visits to different real estate sites.

His teaching specialties include managerial economics, real estate finance, and real estate development. Chinloy has published five books on management and productivity, including The Cost of Doing Business: Legal and Regulatory Issues in the United States and Beyond and Labor Productivity. His works on real estate include Real Estate Investment and Financial Strategy, plus more than 50 refereed articles in Real Estate Economics, Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, American Economic Review, and other journals.
