  • Romeo Segnan came to American University in 1967, where he pursued his career in physics. In 1987 he was appointed chair of the physics department, which he held for the next ten years. During the years of teaching and research, Segnan spent different periods in Italy: a six month sabbatical at the University of Parma in 1976, a semester at La Sapienza University in Rome in 1983, a one year sabbatical at the University at the University of Parma in 1990-91; another one year sabbatical at the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice in 1997-98. He retired in 2000, but he continues to teach especially during the Summer sessions. In 1998 Romeo Segnan and his wife decided to search for a home in Venice. They were fortunate enough to find a modest apartment not far from the Santa Lucia station. They are so happy in Venice that they have decided to spend about six month in Venice and six months in Washington.
