Office of University Registrar
Alice Poehls was named University Registrar at American University in 2011. Alice has worked in higher education for nearly three decades and has served as University Registrar at three flagship institutions: the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the University of North Dakota. At UIUC, Alice was also the interim director of Graduate Admissions and at UND she served for several years as the Director of Admissions and Records.
During her career, Alice has been involved in the purchase and implementation of student information systems including Banner at UNIC and Peoplesoft at UNC. She also was a consultant for Sunguard/Banner (now Ellucian) prior to coming to AU.
Alice has been an active AACROA member having served on two national task forces for the organization and having served as president of the Upper Midwest Association of College Records and Admissions Officers. She has presented nationally and regionally on such topics as FERPA, Disaster Recovery in a Records Office, and Succession Management in the Records Office.
