Brent Bowers is the Assistant to the Dean of the School of International Service, where he manages the dean’s schedule, correspondence, and operations of the SIS Dean's Office. He is also a graduate of the SIS MA program in US Foreign Policy & National Security (2017), with research focuses on Asia-Pacific security and defense policy.
Prior to coming to SIS, Brent resided in Osaka, Japan, where he worked for over four years as an English instructor and cultural consultant for Japanese businesspeople. He double majored in political science and history at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, and conducted a period of study at the University of Hong Kong. He worked in IT support through his undergraduate education, also had a brief research internship with the US Commercial Service.
Apart from outdoor activities, Brent is an “aviation geek”, and has logged over 20 flight hours between Cessna and Piper airframes. He also has a passion for all things motorcycling, and currently rides a Honda Shadow.
