  • Bernie's diversified background encompasses more than 19 years of experience in higher education administration with positions in residence life & housing, fraternity & sorority life, student activities, judicial affairs, community relations and overall student affairs administration. Bernie has been at American University since December 2000. He has overall responsibility for Campus Life's technology and web management, Campus Life assessment initiatives, staff development programming for the Office of Campus Life, and Campus Life web communications. He also chairs the Student Achievement Award Selection Committee, and represents Campus Life on University Project Teams and Committees.

    Bernie is a native of Northern Virginia who earned his bachelor's degree in political science from Radford University, a master of public administration degree from The Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University and a master of education degree in student personnel services and higher education administration from the University of South Carolina. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in higher education administration at The George Washington University.
