Dong Jun joined the International Student & Scholar Services at American University in 2014. Before coming to AU, Dong Jun was an associate attorney at an intellectual property law firm providing clients with effective strategies to respond to newly updated federal regulations. He supervised all patent applications and advise the partners the best method to respond to government restrictions.
Previously, he served as a humanitarian aid volunteer with a relief non-profit organization called Youth With A Mission for five years serving in East Timor, Taiwan, Indonesia, Nepal, India, Cambodia, Australia and U.S. During his five years of volunteering, he collaborated and worked effectively with people of different languages and cultural backgrounds.
In the field of immigration law, he gained hand-on experiences as an immigration law intern in Virginia and District of Columbia and researched immigration consequences of criminal convictions. He believes that it is critical to carefully consider the needs of international students and scholars by communicating in a timely manner and preparing their visa-related issues in a responsible manner.
