- Frank Fitzmaurice joined the School of Communication after spending more than thirty years in Washington news and media organizations. At SOC he oversees the technology staff at the school's various labs and classrooms, as well as the Wechsler Theater and the Media Production Center's new HD TV studio. He spent eight years managing WETA's Production Center, the broadcast home of the NewsHour and Washington Week on PBS. He came to Washington in 1976 to join National Public Radio, where he became the first executive producer of Morning Edition. His broadcast TV credits include producer on Capitol Journal, The MacNeil/Lehrer Newshour, The McLaughlin Group, and several series for The Monitor Channel. He also served as producer/correspondent for Post-Newsweek Television Stations, Independent Network News, and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Before moving to Washington he worked at Boston’s WGBH Radio, and began his public broadcasting career while a student at the University of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia’s WXPN (1966-1970) and WHYY (1966-1972).
