Anne Gillman

Anne Durston Gillman (gillman@american.edu) is Program Coordinator of the Center for Latin American and Latino Studies at American University. Anne has lived in Ecuador, Guatemala, Brazil and Mexico where she has worked with community-based organizations, international bodies, and academic institutions on projects ranging from the coordination of a Democratic Dialogue for youth in Guatemala City to the assessment of small farmer production capacities in Paraná, Brazil.

Anne is a former Fulbright Student and a recipient of the Foreign Language Area Studies Fellowship and the Michael C. Rockefeller Memorial Fellowship. She is currently a Congressional Fellow at the Office of Congressman John Garamendi. Anne received a Master of International Affairs degree from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and completed her undergraduate work in Social Studies at Harvard College.

Anne has published articles in English, Spanish and Portuguese on culture’s role in addressing armed conflict in Brazil and on forms of youth democratic participation in Ecuador.
