Hope Keller, J-Lab’s editorial director, has been a journalist for more than 20 years. Much of her experience was earned at daily newspapers, including the International Herald Tribune in Paris, where she was the deputy editor of the editorial pages. She also worked at The Philadelphia Inquirer, where she was the copy editor of a Pulitzer Prize-winning series on the national blood supply, and the Norfolk Virginian-Pilot, where she covered the waterfront. Hope spent eight years in Paris (1981-1985 and 1994-1998) and speaks fluent French. She also lived in Tel Aviv for a year in the 1980s and speaks elementary Hebrew. Hope graduated from Oberlin College and received a master’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. She has a young daughter and lives in Baltimore, where until mid-2008 she was the editor of the 25,000-circulation bimonthly magazine Baltimore SmartWoman. When she has time she plays the piano.
