Kristina Thompson

International Student and Scholar Services
- Kristina is an International Student Advisor in the International Student Scholar Services office, where she has worked since 1999, when she came to AU as a Master’s student in the International Training and Education Program. Her responsibilities include F-1 and J-1 immigration advising, coordination of international student orientation, organizing cultural programs, work with the International Student Leadership Team, and management of the website. Kristina spent one semester on a staff exchange working at American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, at the university’s Community Service program. Prior to her work at AU, Kristina was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Benin, West Africa. Her international education career began when she worked with the Humphrey Fellows program at the University of Minnesota. Kristina’s BA is in International Studies, from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. She spent one year abroad studying Political Science at the University of Aarhus in Denmark. She enjoys any chance to travel, both on her own and with AU students through the AU Alternative Break program.
